Age UK London

It's great Transport for London have a map showing the location of toilets on their transport network - more people need to be made aware.

One in five of us experience ‘the loo leash’ where we don’t leave our homes as much as we might like because we are anxious that we won’t be able to find a toilet if we need to. Being worried about finding a toilet whilst travelling can mean people avoid taking transport. For some people this can lead to social isolation.

The good news is that Transport for London (TfL) have a map that shows where free-to-use toilets can be found on the TfL network. There are around 100 toilets on the network. Many are at Underground stations.

Unfortunately many of those that would benefit the most from the map don't because it is primarily only available on the internet.

We would like Transport for London to:

Make more paper copies of the map available in station ticket halls.

Distribute paper copies of the map to organisations led by and working with older Londoners.

Plan more promotion of the map to the general public (with marketing targeted to reach older Londoners).
